Import Export Code (IEC) is a unique 10-digit code issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. This code is mandatory for businesses or individuals engaged in the import or export of goods or services from India to other countries.
The IEC code is a primary requirement for any business that wishes to carry out international trade. Without an IEC code, a business cannot import or export any goods or services from India. It is a one-time registration process, and once the code is issued, it is valid for the entire lifetime of the entity or until it is surrendered or cancelled.
Food License, also known as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) License, is a mandatory requirement for any business involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, and sale of food products in India.
The FSSAI is the regulatory body that oversees and enforces food safety laws in India. It is responsible for ensuring that food products are safe for consumption and meet the prescribed standards of quality.
The FSSAI License is classified into three categories, based on the size and nature of the food business:
FSSAI Basic Registration: This is required for small food businesses whose annual turnover does not exceed Rs. 12 lakhs.
FSSAI State License: This is required for medium-sized food businesses whose annual turnover is between Rs. 12 lakhs to Rs. 20 crores.
FSSAI Central License: This is required for large food businesses whose annual turnover exceeds Rs. 20 crores.
